Hi, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat residing in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of my life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the long-term plan. As with many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — fresh procedures, new habits, and shifted expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of on-the-job learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built QuietFieldLamp
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Is For (And What It Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site is NOT:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sofia
